Firefighters use special, lighter gear for brush fires. They also use boots that don’t have the metal insole that can overheat while walking on cindered earth and melt the soles off. Firefighters also have an array of gloves, from leather work gloves to heat-resistant gloves that are used while fighting the fires. They also use Nomex hoods and wristlets to protect themselves from embers flying into their shirts from the neck or wrists. A variety of goggles are used depending on the circumstances.
